When is the 102nd Grey Cup Festival?
The 102nd Grey Cup Festival runs from Wednesday, November 26 through Sunday, November 30, 2014. Volunteer shifts run from Tuesday, November 25 through to Monday, December 1, 2014.
How many hours will I work?
Volunteer commitment is a minimum of 18 hours – 3 six hour shifts
What types of jobs will I have?
You will be ambassadors for the Grey Cup Festival! Overall you will be welcoming people to Vancouver, to the Festival, and to your area. Customer service is our focus. Please refer to the volunteer positions descriptions for specific job information.
Can I work with my friends or family members?
Yes. Provided you have chosen the same jobs and are available for the same shifts. The onus will be on you to coordinate with your friends the timing.
Do I get fed?
Yes.
Is there a uniform?
Yes – you will be able to pick up your uniform at the orientation session.
Is there parking available for volunteers?
Volunteers will be encouraged to ‘Go Green’ and use public transit.
When will I hear if I have been accepted as a volunteer?
Upon review of your registration, a scheduling request will be sent to you. Your volunteer registration will be complete upon your acceptance of the schedule provided to you.
When will I know my volunteer schedule?
Volunteer schedules will be sent out starting mid-August through to the beginning of November.
What department I will be volunteering for?
We requested three choices during the registration process and will make every effort to place you in the area of your choice. However, as departments get filled we reserve the right to place you where there is a need.
What if I want or need to change my volunteer shifts and times?
Scheduling issues will be worked through with our scheduling team. Once you have accepted your schedule, any changes will be adjusted through your department manager. If they are unable to accommodate you, you will forfeit the opportunity of volunteering.
Will I receive any training? If yes, when?
Each volunteer will be provided with an event orientation..
Who will be my supervisor?
Each department has two co-managers responsible for the operations of the department. Each department will have Team Leaders looking after our volunteers. You will be able to meet our volunteer management team at the November volunteer orientation.
